OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL.
Jackson is where I bought my first house - at the corner of 1st and Union. It’s where I married my high school sweetheart, Danielle. And it is where we chose to start a family because we see the tremendous potential that this city has to offer. Our daughter, Novalee, loves our great parks and our great public schools. We truly feel like this city is a family, each person a valuable member.
It’s no secret our city faces some big problems - from crumbling streets and crime, to our economy and high poverty. These problems are not new, and they did not develop overnight. They will take hard work and dedication to overcome.
Here’s one thing I know: family never quits. We don’t turn our back on each other. We never give up, no matter the challenge. We push forward to make sure that nobody gets left out, and nobody gets left behind. That’s the kind of family I know, and that’s the kind of city I believe in. And that’s why I’m running for Mayor.
This election is important. With your support, I’ll keep challenging the status quo and fighting to deliver change - for bold, innovative solutions that will rebuild our city. Together, we can create opportunity for all in Jackson.
Vibrant Downtown,
Strong Economy
Investment in projects like Michigan Ave, Horace Blackman Park, and the Hayes Hotel development deal supplement the collaborative effort to locate new professionals and businesses downtown. We must do more to further cut red-tape, encourage entrepreneurship, and spur economic opportunity to rebuild Jackson from the downtown core outwards.
Clean Neighborhoods,
Fixed Streets
By streamlining local government, we’ve doubled our street sweeping and restored two rounds of curbside leaf pickup. We need to continue that work to clean up our streets and neighborhoods. While we’ve used new technology to increase efficiencies and patch potholes, we must find a long-term solution to fix our streets and repair crucial infrastructure.
Public Safety,
Sustainable Finances
We’ve made tough decisions to build a fund balance, reduce the number of departments, and right-size city hall in order to invest that savings back into quality police and fire services. Continuing to be fiscally responsible and pursuing regional partnerships will help in adequately staffing quality police and fire services and keeping our residents and businesses safe.
